Machinery Shop Project

Joleanna Holsteins LLC, well known both for their herd of dairy cattle and the fresh produce offered via Covered Bridge Farm Market located on the farm, invested their Delaware County Farm Enhancement Grant a machinery repair shop to benefit the entirety of their farming enterprise. Joleanna’s point of pride is their 275 head registered Holstein herd, for which they raise all the feed crops for; this in addition to the vegetable cropping operation for the Farm Market places significant demands on the farm’s fleet of equipment. Adding a machine repair shop was a natural progression for the farm as they have a goal and need, given the current economic climate, to move as much equipment repair in-house. An enclosed, heated space allows for repairs any time of year, in any weather conditions, and allows more preventative maintenance to be completed in off-peak hours. A designated location for tools, parts, fluids and supplies, with ample room to perform tasks, enables the crop production aspect of the farm to grow while keeping equipment in good operating condition is pivotal to continued success.
