Stall & Mattress Project

Echo Acres Farm, a second-generation dairy, is focused on economic and environmental sustainability. Working hard to provide a high quality of life for their animals and family, the Ceresnas utilized a Delaware County Farm Enhancement Grant to address an animal comfort and wellbeing need in their youngstock rearing facility. The Infrastructure Grant supported the replacement of stalls and the addition of mattresses to assure each animal had its own, safe, comfortable space to eat and rest without competing with herd mates. 

This housing facility upgrade will allow calves and heifers to perform at their optimum growth potential, prevent injuries and save time and labor in daily animal care. Each of these will have direct impact to the farm’s bottom line, and just as importantly provided improved functionality and quality of life for both animals and operators alike.
