Clark Dairy Farm LLC

Dairy Facility Improvement Project

High quality milk from happy, comfortable cows was the focus of the project at Clark Dairy Farms, LLC.A 5th generation farm, Clark Dairy Farms has grown to become a local household name in fluid milk. The Delaware Farm Enhancement Grant played a role in the farm’s new, state of the art dairy facility. The new facility leverages technology and automation to optimize cow comfort and management, ultimately yielding the highest quality milk possible. Featuring a robotic milking system coupled with an automatic sorting gate system, each cow is individually managed to her peak performance with customized milking and feeding schedules. The system also curates exacting data to detect health issues before they become clinical, allowing for immediate treatment tailored to the animal’s individual needs.

Beyond individual cow management, the new dairy cow facility at Clark Farms assures cows are in the most comfortable environment possible to allow the ladies to perform at their best and yield peak milk production .Cows rest on gel mattresses, have their living environment continuously cleaned with automatic ally scrappers, and are provided round the clock fresh feed with the automated fed push system. These features, combined with climate controls through fully automated barn curtains, provide the working cows of Clark Dairy with prime comfort and living conditions no matter the weather!

The automation of the facility doesn’t necessarily save labor at the farm but rather changes how labor is used. Routine, repetitive tasks have yielded to precision management with focuses on quality in all aspects of operation from animal feed production all the way through to the finished pint of milk a consumer drinks. The farm has a rich 100+ year history of dairy production here in Delaware County, and this project, of which the Farm Enhancement Grant played one small piece, situates the farm for long term future success. This project directly supported the agricultural production on the farm, which in turn supports the availability of local grown, processed and marketed food!
