Healthy Calves are key to performance and profitability of regional beef and dairy farms. This workshop will combine practical and applicable ideas in an idea-sharing , peer-group type environment. Following a light lunch, the farm hosts, the Deysenroth family, will share their calf raising program and successes followed by Linsday Ferlito, from Cornell Pro-Dairy demonstrating proper tubing methods of a new life size calf model. Lindsay will also present FARM program updates regarding proper calf care and welfare. Farmers will practice using esophageal feeders on the model calf. After the demonstration, the PFM team will facilitate a calf health idea generating session with regional farms sharing successes, challenges and question with their peers.
