Cornell Cooperative Extension working with Cornell has been asked to host a Farmers’ Market Community Meeting at our Hamden office on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 from 9:30-11:30 am.

The goal of this meeting is to create and/or strengthen relationships among individuals and groups that support farmers’ markets in Delaware County.

At this meeting:

  • Erin Summerlee, education coordinator from Food and Health Network South Central NY, will be presenting on the Fruit and Vegetable Prescription Program to use at farmers’ markets.
  • Briefly review programs and services that support farmers’ markets, including SNAP, FMNP, and other creative local efforts.
  • Share success stories and identify some opportunities for markets to be stronger
  • Develop action plans for the coming summer market season

Please RSVP to Jeanne Darling at [email protected] by if you can attend this Farmers’ Market Community Meeting.  We would like to have a representative from each Farmers’ Market share a success story and plans for the summer season at the meeting.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Delaware County will be sponsoring two farmers’ markets for the 2019 season in Walton and Deposit, NY.  These markets have been established for the convenience of all local residents and participants in the Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) through WIC and Delaware County Office for the Aging.  In addition to cash sales, WIC clients and income eligible senior citizens may redeem their farmers’ market nutrition program coupons at these local markets. Fruit & Vegetable Prescription Program (FVRx) bucks can also be redeemed at these markets.
