This event has been cancelled.
Due to the ever evolving COVID19 situation in compliance with NYS laws/mandates, Cornell Cooperative Extension Administration is recommending a suspension of all nonessential gatherings, including programs, meetings, and events until further notice. This means that all scheduled events will be cancelled, postponed, or offered virtually until further notice.

An alternative idea from Warren County 4-H
Thanks to some educators from throughout NYS and some youth input they will be hosting a virtual NYS 4-H Forestry month. The virtual event will welcome any 4-H member!
Each Saturday starting May 9th through June 6th, they will host a 1-2 hour video session that will include videos, powerpoints, and activities. At least part of the program will use some live feed via Zoom, and possibly Facebook, so they can see and hear from interested youth from around NYS.
The exact time of the video links is yet to be determined. Each session will be recorded so those who can’t attend that session will be able to review it later.
Until that time, we will be posting resources you can access for free that will help you prepare for this event. Here is the first resource on learning how to identify trees using a dichotomous key:

This University of Kentucky resource has some overlap to trees we see here, but the illustrated points of how to use a dichotomous key and what each term means are outstanding. The pace of the presentation also makes it easy to follow along.
