2022 HYBRID Catskills Youth Climate Summit
The 2022 Youth Summit was a great success! Fifty youth and twenty teachers/presenters from 4 local schools and 1 NYC school attended the hybrid Catskills Youth Climate Summit on April 1, 2022. The event took place at SUNY Oneonta and featured a youth delegate from the Adirondacks who shared her experience at COP26 in Scotland with The Wild Center team to advocate for global climate action. Presenters from Cornell and Watershed Ag Council educated participants about the NYC Watershed Forests, the complexity of climate policy. Students prepared a Climate Action Plan and were inspired by a community composting program started by Lake Placid students.
